Each year Eastview Music Studio piano and guitar students have the option of enrolling in the Music Teachers Association of California Certificate of Merit Program. Students are tested on their skills in music theory, ear-training, sight-reading, and repertory. Students who pass all sections of the test for their assigned level are awarded the Certificate of Merit. This program is optional for Eastview Music studio private piano and guitar students.
The goals of CM are as follows:
- To provide a systematic and comprehensive plan to develop performance skill, technique, ear-training and sight reading skills, and understanding of music theory
- To provide practical goals to help students maintain a steady and focused appreciation of their musical studies
- To encourage students to strive for musical excellence
- To create opportunities in which students may share their music.
